London Design Festival is a living and breathing demonstration of the city’s long and passionate affinity with the world of design. From its contributions to the dawn of the industrial revolution to its history of innovative industrial design, through to the emergence of design as part of the “Cool Britannia” movement, design has been at the heart of London’s cultural and commercial identity.
Conceived by Sir John Sorrell and Ben Evans in 2003, the London Design Festival is an annual event bringing design to the forefront of the capital’s consciousness for one glorious week of celebrations, events and promotions. In 2017 London will play host to hundreds of festival events running from the 16th to the 24th of September.
London Design Festival 2017 – Innovative Industrial Design Celebration and Information
As in previous years, the Global Design Forum will be staging an expansive program of talks exploring the role of design in a sustainable and prosperous future. This forum draws leading international thought leaders, practitioners, retailers and educators in a series of not-to-be-missed forum discussions.
Among the new activities in 2017 will be the launching of Design Frontiers — a free group exhibition showcasing over 30 leading international design luminaries at London’s Somerset House. Design Frontiers will plunge visitors into the minds and working practices of this internationally renowned designers who come from specialties as diverse as graphics, fashion, automotive and product design. As the festival enters 2017, the vision to celebrate London as the design capital of the world remains as strong and vibrant as ever.
