Notting Hill Carnival is one of the most eventful festivals in London. It’s an annual event that has been colorfully occupying the streets of Notting Hill and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London since 1966. It happens every year in August for two days celebrating culture and various ethnicity that have helped shaped what London is today.
It first started as an indoor celebration in protests against racial attacks and it grew into something much more significant, that today millions of people from all over the world flock to Notting Hill to be part of the occasion.

Though the festival might sound like something only for adults to indulge in, this festival also has a Family Day, where parents can bring their kids, but this is advised only on the calm first day of the event because it often gets rough on the next day. The carnival also features a lot of delicious Caribbean food that you would regret missing out on — as barbecues, jerk chicken and rice dishes are served all throughout the festival.
You will not only be enjoying good music and entertainment, but also good food out on the streets. Look for more activities after indulging in all the culture and fun. If there’s one thing you should add on your bucket list it’s no other than the Notting Hill Carnival!
